Woman, Her 2 Children Killed In Violent Crash In Willowbrook

WILLOWBROOK (CBS) — An active investigation was under way Monday following a violent collision that claimed the lives of two young children and their mother, and injured two others.

The crash, described as a broadside-type collision, occurred just after 7 a.m. at South Mona Boulevard and East 119th Street in Willowbrook.

Initial reports said the accident occurred in Lynwood.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed that the two children, ages 3 and 7, were pronounced dead at the scene.

They tell CBS2 that the a woman in the vehicle, 32-year-old Lynzne Martinez, died at the hospital. Neighbors said she was the mother of the two children killed. They were identified as 7-year-old Breanna Martinez and 3-year-old Loryana Martinez. All three were from Los Angeles.

Two adult passengers were transported to a local hospital with moderate to minor injuries.

Amy Johnson, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, said a sport utility vehicle carrying seven people was heading eastbound on 119th Street when it appears a white Cadillac hit the side of the van.

One witness told Johnson that after the collision a man got out of the van and chased the driver of the Cadillac who was allegedly fleeing the scene.

Investigators were questioning both drivers to try and determine what happened.

No other information was immediately available.
