School Holds Emergency Meeting After Teacher's Aide Arrested On Sex Crimes

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An emergency meeting was held Friday morning for parents at Gratts Elementary School after a teacher's aid as arrested for lewd acts on a child.

The first informational meetings produced very few details about the accusations against Jorge Dominguez, 26, who worked as a teachers aide at Gratts Learning Academy and as a coach at the LA Academy of Arts & Enterprise, both in the Westlake District.

Parents were told the charges of lewd acts with a child stem from an incident that allegedly happened off campus, KNX 1070's John Brooks reports.

"So little information, didn't put parents at ease and just the way it was brought about to people's attention has divided everyone," parent Hector Colon said.

Parents were not told the age of the alleged victim.

Dominguez was arrested Thursday morning. He was being held at the LAPD's downtown jail on $100,000 bail, according to jail records.

Dominguez has been fired by the LAUSD due to his "temporary" status as a teacher's aide.

Another informational meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday.
