83-Year-Old Man Killed In Lawndale House Fire

LAWNDALE (CBS) — An 83-year-old man was killed Saturday in an early-morning fire at a home in Lawndale.

The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. Saturday at the home in the 15200 block of Freeman Avenue just after 2 a.m. Saturday.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the blaze, according to county fire dispatcher Andre Gougis.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, although authorities say they did not find any apparent signs of foul play.

An investigation was under way.

Three family members of the deceased also lived in the home and were taken to an area hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
