MALIBU (CBS) — Detectives said Monday there apparently was no foul play involved in the death of a 25-year-old woman whose body was found in the garage of her Malibu home, but the cause of death has been deferred pending the results of toxicology tests.
Katherine Wilkins was found dead in the garage of the residence in the 23400 block of Moon Shadows Drive on Saturday evening, the sheriff’s department reported.
An autopsy was conducted this morning, but the cause of death was pending the results of toxicology tests, which can take several weeks.
“At this time, it appears that was no foul play involved in the death of Ms. Wilkins,” according to a sheriff’s department statement. “The investigation is ongoing.”
Wilkins’ father said her 1998 BMW Z3 was missing from the home.
The neighborhood is an unlikely one for crime, a cul-de-sac off Rambla Pacfico. The license plate on Wilkins’ missing silver Z3, which has a red interior, is 4AMN588.
