Consumers Advocates Expose Which Foods Are Making Bogus Claims At Being Healthy

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — There's a lot of confusion regarding food labels and, more importantly, many wonder if they're telling the truth.

Consumers advocates are banding together to get answers and keep companies' advertising claims honest.

The "diet detectives" shared their tips for food shopping on KCAL9 News. The Lean Washing Index uses the term "leanwashing" when a company makes exaggerated or misleading health claims through advertising, marketing, or packaging.
