5 Injured In 2-Vehicle Crash On Pico Boulevard

LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  Five people —  two of them children — were injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Los Angeles, a city fire official said.

The crash was reported at 7:30 p.m. at 2311 W. Pico Blvd., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The five victims were taken to hospitals.

Edward Lawrence, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Two vehicles were going in opposite directions on Pico when one crossed the double yellow line and collided head first into the other.

Police told Lawrence they don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash but that one driver also fled the scene.

Witnesses said the crash was so loud it could be heard for several blocks.

Pico was shut down for about an hour.
