LONG BEACH (CBS) — The southbound side of the 710 Freeway reopened just before 6:30 a.m. Friday after a big rig plowed into the center median.
The 2 a.m. crash near Del Amo Boulevard initially prompted the closure of the entire freeway.
The driver of the big rig told CHP officers that a four-door vehicle cut him off and he lost control when trying to avoid a crash.
The truck was empty at the time, but debris from the crash spilled onto northbound lanes from the south side of the freeway.
A car traveling northbound was struck by another car when it stopped to avoid debris on that side of the road.
No injuries were reported.
