Runyon Canyon offers three hiking trails perfectly suited for a stroll or a more vigorous workout with your pet. Here you will enjoy scenic views of the city and the beaches from the canyon peaks. This 160-acre park has three entrances: Fuller Avenue, N. Vista Street and Runyon Canyon Road. The Redondo Beach Dog Park in Dominguez Park features a turfed and fenced three-acre dog run with separate areas for large and small dogs. Dog owners may relax on benches without worry while the pups play, sniff and sip from provided water bowls. CBS LA Insider’s tip: At peak hours parking may be a bit of challenge, so opt for street parking.

An afternoon for your four-legged friend warrants a stop off at a dog-friendly eatery for a bite to eat, and this gastropub is just the ticket. Dine on the patio with your dog until 7 p.m. with potato skins, Buffalo wings, salads, burgers and sandwiches. Be sure to order one of its canine-themed drinks such as the Rockin’ Hound or Off the Leash. Weekday happy hour runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; beer is $3, house wine is $4 and well drinks are $5.
