Winner Of Prestigious Financial Analysis Contest Hails From Long Beach Poly H.S.

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Braxton Greco, a junior at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, visited KCAL9 Tuesday to discuss his recent first place finish in the SIFMA Foundation's InvestWrite® student essay competition.

Roughly 20,000 students who participate in the competition are asked to analyze an investment scenario, think critically, and write a long-term financial plan.

In his essay, Greco identified methods that market analysts use to "decipher profitable long-term investments for their clients." Greco identified Nike as a stable company and a potentially profitable long term investment. In his essay, he outlined performance measures he believes are most important and provided research to back up his assessment of Nike's potential. Greco concluded his essay by commenting that "The company's ability to stay profitable through difficult times, strong fundamentals and opportunity for tremendous future growth outweigh any short-term volatile risks."

Barbara Fleming of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, who spoke to and mentored Greco's AP economics class about investments and financial literacy, also stopped by KCAL9.
