CITY TERRACE (CBS) —  A 1-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a pickup truck in a residential driveway in the City Terrace area, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

A 26-year-old man was attempting to move his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup from behind a sport utility vehicle that belonged to the boy’s mother. The incident occurred about 2:15 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Indiana Street, according to CHP reports.

While the truck was in motion in the driveway, the child ran directly into the path of the truck, according to a department statement. The driver’s vision of the boy was obscured by the parked SUV.

The boy was run over by the truck’s left front tire and suffered severe head trauma. Paramedics rushed the child to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

…I see this a lot by the McArthur Park area. The tots are running down the sidewalk, way ahead of the mother, and could dart in the street at anytime. The mother should have a leash on their wrist. Their not watching the kids like a hawk.
This is sad. Its the MOTHER’S fault for not watching after her child. Why was she not watching her kid run out into a driveway? Dont blame the driver, blame the kids parents!
