Murder Of Moreno Valley Woman During ATM Robbery Remains Unsolved

MORENO VALLEY (CBS) — Moreno Valley police are hoping to generate new leads in the shooting death of a 23-year-old woman.

Carrie Thomas was shot and killed during a robbery on March 27, 2011.

According to authorities, Thomas had just ended her shift at Shakey’s Pizza and went to the bank just before midnight to withdraw money.

Thomas and her boyfriend Ryan were going to make a payment the next day on a house they were planning on sharing with their 2-year-old son, Riley.

As Thomas pulled into the drive-up ATM, a man with a gun approached Thomas and shot her. She later died at a hospital.

As she pulled up the guy shot her. How is this a robbery? If he were to rob her he would have waited until she withdrew the money. I would say someone followed her from her job and shot her. Seems more like a hit.

  • Yami

…same thing I was thinking. Either bad writing of the article, or the guy shoots her before the withdrawal, and you now you need the ‘pin’ # too. If money for ‘down-payment’, why not wait and get the money-order from the bank, in the morning

I just thought of something else. One cannot withdraw more than $300 from an ATM. so they were putting up $300 for a house? Something stinks, either bad writing or critical thinking is missing in the investigation. So they concluded it was a robbery because the person was at the ATM. Was she shot before withdrawing money? That is the million dollar question that apparently no one has asked. Why they haven’t asked is because she was at an ATM so they immediately assumed robbery.

not sure what bank you go to but mine will give me $700 (at least). The limits are set by the bank you have an account with.

it does not say they were buying the house it simply says it was for a house the planed to share as in RENT so if she withdrew money (and by the way i can withdraw 500 from my atm) it could have been her part of a security dep. the person who shot her could well be a friend who yes may have followed her and who quite easy could know her pin. i have a female friend who has on more then one occasion sent her card with me when i was going to the bank for my own money to also get some for her so it is not out of the window of possibility that this person knew her somehow and also knew her pin

I have lived in this area for years and this was labeled a “robbery” only because they cannot ID the killer. There were numerous articles in our local newspapers last year the this women had a lot of “friends with benefits”. Her killer was not after money he probably killed her because she stopped having sex with the guy and the guy when psycho and killed her. THIS IS WHY BOTH THE BANK AND LAW ENFORCEMENT HAVE NEVER STATED THAT “THE ROBBER” STOLE XXX AMOUNT OF MONEY BECAUSE HE WAS NEVER AFTER MONEY…HE JUST DIDN’T WANT ANYONE ELSE TO HAVE THAT VAGINA. Simple concept to understand.

Bottom line is anyone who goes to an ATM after dark is nuts. You amateur detectives are funny, stupid, but funny.

    • Christina39

This might not get posted but you are a true A$shole and SOB. The killer was white so you have done nothing but dengrate a murdered beautiful young woman who has no future just because the killer is white. Grow up you slug. You know s#hit about the case just like everybody else knows nothing about this yet. American men grow up. It really is about time don’t you think.

      • Christina75

Why do you keep talking about the killer being white? Who brought up race? Just another person who wants to bring up the color of someone’s skin in a comment.

And to the other person, who said she was pulling out money for the house? Maybe they had money at home and she was pulling out more for something else. Maybe the boyfriend called her at work and asked her to pick something up on her way home and she had no money on her.

Maybe she was shot because she wouldn’t give up her pin number. Maybe he told her either give me your money or die and she didn’t give it up. See there are a lot of “maybe’s” in this story huh. Nobody was there and saw it happen, so everyone is just full of speculations.
