Public's Help Sought In Locating Missing Carson Man, 25

CARSON (CBS) — Authorities Saturday asked for the public's help in locating a 25-year-old man from Carson.

An alert issued by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said the man -- identified as Elgin Stafford -- was last seen about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home on the 20000 block of Campaign Drive.

Stafford is described as an African American male.

He is 5'10" and weighs about 145 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, a multi-colored pair of pants and a black shirt, according to the alert.

Authorities say Stafford has no known medical or psychiatric issues.

However, recently, authorities say he had been exhibiting some erratic behavior, the alert said.

Stafford's father, Michael, tells CBS2 that his son recently attended USC. He described him as being "stressed out." Also, he says, his son interned for U.S. representative Karen Bass last summer.

Anyone with information as to Stafford's whereabouts is asked to contact authorities at (323) 890-5500.
