LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Former Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher has finalized his new deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday after clearing waivers at 3p.m. PST.
Fisher, wearing No. 37 — his age, made his Thunder debut in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Fisher, who won five championships rings with the Lakers alongside Kobe Bryant, arrived at OKC’s Will Rogers World Airport and met with Thunder General Manager Sam Presti,.
Fisher was an unrestricted free agent after agreeing to a buyout with the Houston Rockets Monday night, following a surprise trade from the Lakers. Because of the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, Fisher cannot return to the Lakers until next season.
