LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A man was fatally struck by a bus while apparently walking in the slow lane of the northbound (5) Freeway just southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
The accident just west of the Long Beach (710) Freeway junction was reported about 1:48 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
It was not immediately clear what happened.
Three lanes of the freeway were temporarily closed to accommodate the investigation.
The man’s body was turned over to the coroner.
His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
