GLENDALE (AP) — Glendale authorities say residents should keep an eye out for a bear after a man found one rifling through his garage refrigerator.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Glendale resident was awakened by strange noises coming from his garage at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The bear was seated next to an open refrigerator in the resident’s garage.
City spokeswoman Vicki Gardner says the resident made eye contact with the large animal before going back inside the house and locking his door.
Police arrived just in time to see the bear leaving the back yard.
Gardner says the city has received reports that a bear had been plundering outdoor trash cans in the area.
Gardner says it’s possible the animal wandered into the nearby Verdugo Mountains.
