CHATSWORTH (CBS) — Authorities are searching for a man who reportedly caused a fatal collision with a motorcyclist Saturday in Chatsworth before fleeing the scene.

The accident in the 20900 block of Nordhoff Street was reported sometime after 1 p.m., according to an alert issued by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A male driving a white Ford pickup truck reportedly collided with another man driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Witnesses say the driver of the truck never stopped.

“We followed him up the street in our motor home,” said witness Helen Kelly. The driver escaped into traffic before Kelly could get his license plate number.

Kelly said the driver of the truck had black hair and a mustache, and appeared to be around 30 years of age.

LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey said the intersection of Nordhoff Street and DeSoto Avenue was closed in all directions while Los Angeles police investigated the accident.

The victim, identified only as a 25-year-old white male, was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said.

No other injuries were reported.

Hunt them down and hang them high. I was hit 2 weeks ago Platt and Victory on my motorcycle the person that hit me initially fled the scene but was pursued by witnesses then eventually stopped. I’d like to thank witnesses, Paramedics and West Hills hospital staff that took such good care of me…

Because I ride a motorcycle, I know that anyone wearing a helmet with the face shied in the down/closed position is in a “hearing impaired” state. The hearing sense is just as important as the sense of sight in any survival situation, from our beginnings in the jungles and the forests, to the streets and freeways of Los Angeles!

Enforce the LAWS

This is the result from the CHP and other police agents NOT writing tickets for people making LEFT turns WITHOUT signaling. Period!!! Most drivers don’t use their turn signals. Why should you? Apparently there’s no law requiring it…. Dumb Dumb Dumb and in this case it took another life. Sad!

i heard of this tragic news early in the morning by a phone call from a mutual friend, it brought tears to my eyes, Ahmed was a good friend of mine, i know him and his little kid, and the trash bag, the coward, that hit him must be found, please if you have information contact LAPD, with any information that may help us find Ahmeds killer.
