DETROIT (CBS) – Kobe Bryant started the Lakers’ 3-game road-trip in Detroit by wearing a black face mask, making him the “Black Masked Mamba.”
Kobe had three special designed masked by the maker of Richard Hamilton’s masks, Jerry McHale.
Kobe felt the most comfortable with the black mask after trying 4 others(2 made in L.A.) during shoot-around Tuesday morning.
However, half way through the second quarter Kobe switched to his original mask.
The last person to wear a black mask during an NBA game was Brandon Williams of the San Antonio Spurs.
Kobe has been averaging 34 points with the mask.
