'Heal Your Skin' With Dr. Ava Shamban's Top Beauty Treatments

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — If you're looking for a way to revitalize your skin, listen up! Dr. Ava Shamban, the assistant clinical professor of dermatology at UCLA and the author of "Heal Your Skin," stopped by KCAL9 Thursday to talk about the latest non-invasive beauty treatments.

LaViv:

- This is the FIRST and only personalized cell therapy approved by the FDA for aesthetic use, and it's indicated for the nasolabial folds (smile lines).
- The technology behind this product is what makes it even more innovative…a biopsy is first taken of the patient's skin and sent to a lab where collagen-producing fibroblast cells are separated and ready to be injected into the patient's smile lines 90 days later.
- Personalized skincare is really the future of beauty
- Time & cost: The recommended course of LAVIV administration is a series of three treatments, typically 3-6 weeks apart, once the patient's cells are ready. The cost of LAVIV is similar to other cutting edge aesthetic therapies and includes the full course of therapy from extraction and cell cultivation through the third treatment. (Cost varies from $3,500 - $6,000 for the initial course of therapy.)

Restylane:

- Restylane is the first and only dermal filler FDA approved for lip enhancement for people over the age of 21
- Cost is between $400-$800/syringe

Exilis:

- Exilis is a safe, non-invasive, device for the face and body that reduces wrinkles, treats laxity and reshapes the body using focused RadioFrequency technology
- Four treatments, spaced 7-14 days apart is recommended and price varies depending on the size of the area
