LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police on Friday sought to track down a teenage boy who reportedly tried to kidnap a 17-year-old girl near Arleta High School.

LAPD Sergeant Jesse Garcia told KNX 1070 the girl was on her way to school on Friday morning when the boy tried to force her into his vehicle.

“He tried to pick her up and take her to the car,” said Garcia. “She fought back and [that] gave her the ability to get away.”

The suspect is described as a 15-year-old male Hispanic in a red compact sedan, Garcia said.

No injuries were reported. It remains unclear whether the girl knew the suspect.
