OC Officials Investigate How Teens Were Found Having Sex In Co-Ed Juvenile Hall

ORANGE (CBS) — Authorities are investigating how two teens in custody for violent crimes were found having sex while in custody at Juvenile Hall.

The two teenagers being housed in a co-ed facility were found by staff from the Orange County Probation Department on Feb. 12, according to the Orange County Register.

Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Department are looking into whether the sexual contact was consensual, while the Probation Department is investigating how the teen gained access to the room and how much time passed before they were discovered, the newspaper reported.

The girl, 17, was in custody after being charged with attempted murder, second-degree robbery, witness intimidation and other charges. The boy, now 18, was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit a crime. Investigators say both committed their crimes as part of a gang.

The boy has since been transferred to county jail, according to the Register.
