WHITTIER (CBS) — A 59-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after authorities say he crashed into a parked patrol car in Whittier.
The accident on Bloomfield Avenue near Imperial Highway occurred about 1:15 a.m., Whittier police Lt. Carlos Solorza said.
According to Solorza, an officer was seated inside his parked patrol car when it was struck by a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by a suspected drunk driver.
That man was uninjured but was arrested by the CHP shortly thereafter.
As for he officer, he is expected to be OK. Solorza said he had checked into a hospital but has since been released.
“If you were see to a picture of the (patrol) car, you would say ‘Wow,’ because the motorist hit the driver’s side of the patrol car,” the officer added.
The identity of those involved has not been released.
