Police: 'Peeping Tom' Snapped Photo Of Woman In Cypress College Restroom

CYPRESS (CBS) — Police on Friday asked the public for help in finding an man who allegedly pointed a cell phone camera at a woman in an on-campus restroom at Cypress College.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports the victim reportedly screamed when she saw a hand holding a camera come up from under the divider of the stall next to her.

Cypress Police Officer Paulo Morales said the incident occurred on Feb. 13 in a Humanities building women's restroom.

"She started to scream and that caused the subject to quickly flee," said Morales.

The woman then fled the stall and chased the suspect — who was seen wearing a dark hood — out of the restroom but was unable to catch him.

He was last seen climbing over a wall into a business property next Cypress College.

Morales said while he's not familiar with any similar peeping tom incidents on campus, this particular incident was a rather brazen crime.

"If the person is watching and sees and believes that there is no one else at the time he sees the female go in, he very well quite possibly feels he could get away with it," he said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Cypress College police at (714) 229-6600.
