LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Miramonte Elementary School teacher accused of fondling a student is free on bond Friday morning, sheriff’s officials said.

KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports that Martin Springer was released on $300,000 bond. He left Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles about 2 a.m. Friday.

The 49-year-old was fitted with a court-ordered ankle monitoring device before his release. Springer was also ordered to stay more than 100 yards away from any potential witnesses and more than 100 feet away from any park, school or playground.

Springer pleaded not guilty Tuesday to three counts of lewd acts on a child. He was arrested on Feb. 3 after a former female student said Springer fondled her. The alleged crimes took place in Springer’s second grade classroom between April and June of 2009.

He taught at Miramonte Elementary School for 25 years prior to his arrest. He was fired from the Los Angeles Unified School District Tuesday and has 30 days to appeal the school board’s decision.

Springer’s next court date is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 16 in downtown Los Angeles.

Where is the story about how one of his accusers has recanted her story? If this guy is guilty, I’d inject him myself, however the district and the media seem to be trying to fry this guy without a chance to prove himself. If he is innocent, his careeer is over no matter what. Why would the district want to do him in publically? They want to take attention away from their usual mismanagement. This is their normal strategy for dealing with their usual incompetence.

I really hope he is innocent and sues the school and the media hopefully crippling them and setting precedent so they cannot cause this wave of hysteria before someone is proven guilty. The media has way too much power. Remember these media personnel are nothing special. They all have journalism and public affairs degrees nothing more. An English degree would be a lot harder to get trust me. I was a journalist and I learned in three weeks. Military. This guys life is over not just his career. All because someone said he did something. Oh and he apparently touched her leg. There are many reasons for a teacher to touch a students leg. Maybe she fell and hurt herself. He did not penetrate or grope anyone. They guy still does not even know what he is guilty of. Oh but he is a monster because some illegal immigrant anchor baby says so. I hope all these parents get deported then we will not need to give their kids free education.
