LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  A man was seriously injured Saturday while hiking in Griffifth Park, a city fire official said.

The injured hiker was reported at 6:59 p.m. at Western Canyon Road and Mount Hollywood Drive, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Rescuers found the man in rugged terrain west of the observatory, Scott said.

The hiker was taken to a hospital in serious condition, he said.
