Man Murdered After Protecting His Grandfather From 3 Robbers
NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A man was murdered Monday night after protecting his grandfather from three armed robbers.
Danilo Morales, 24, was shot at 7 p.m. Monday in the 8100 block of Coldwater Canyon, one block north of Strathern Street.
Morales was pronounced dead at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center after he was shot in the head while standing in the driveway of a family member's home.
"We're still in shock. We can't believe it. It's hard. We can't sleep, we're just there. We don't know what to do," Morales' aunt, Marta Flores, told CBS2.
Morales tried to rescue his grandfather, who was screaming for help, from multiple men who tried to rob him. He chased away the would-be robbers and smashed the back window of the SUV they were driving before he was shot.
The suspects, who are believed to be between the ages of 15 and 20, escaped in a white SUV.
The LAPD says the vehicle has a broken window and a red reflector across the back.
