DESERT HOT SPRINGS (CBS) — Two of four people suspected of burglarizing an elementary school in Desert Hot Springs were behind bars.
Police were called to Cabot Yerxa Elementary School in the 67000 block of Desert View Avenue after an alarm went of about 3:48 a.m. Sunday, said police Sgt. Gus Paiz.
Upon arrival, officers spotted three suspects with large duffle bags running from the playground.
When they were confronted, the men reportedly dropped the bags, which contained 46 Apple laptops, and fled.
While searching for the men, a fourth suspect was found hiding in a trash bin, he said.
The sergeant said that two of the four men were detained and booked at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of burglary.
They were identified as Moreno Valley residents Joshua Ligon, 25, and Martel Turner, 21.
Authorities are searching for the other two suspects. Anyone with more information was asked to call police at (760) 329-2904, ext. 330.
