CERRITOS (CBS) — A deputy has recovered a wooden cross bearing a military insignia that was reportedly taken from a cemetery in Cerritos.
Employees of Artesia Cemetery reported the break in about 3 a.m. Tuesday, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Geoffrey Deedrick.
The two suspects, both 29, were identified as Jason Fluharty of Torrance and Jolynn Ramirez of Artesia.
Employees apparently recognized the men, who were walking near cemetery grounds on Studebaker Road, on the surveillance footage, authorities said.
Deedrick said the wooden cross was recovered by a deputy from Fluharty’s backpack.
