American Girl Introduces Their ‘2012 Girl Of The Year’

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Scott Davidson from American Girl visited the KCAL 9 studios Wednesday to debut their latest doll!

The 2012 Girl of the Year is McKenna! McKenna is American Girl’s 10th contemporary Girl of the Year.

McKenna excels at gymnastics but starts to struggle with reading comprehension in school when she enters fourth grade. McKenna’s story is about teaching girls to use their strengths to turn challenges into triumphs.

McKenna’s story is written by Mary Casanova, the author of two other Girl of the Year series for American Girl. The series is set in Seattle.

American Girl Place Los Angeles will be hosting a special two-day McKenna launch celebration on January 1 and 2. The McKenna doll and book retail for $105 and are available at American Girl Place Los Angeles or through

    I like gymnastics like McKenna. I also have a golden dog like her. She looks like she has a pretty outfit and bag. I can’t wait to see her at the American Girl Doll Store in New York.
