Man, 23, Arrested In Mall After Allegedly Causing Disturbance Over Nike Air Jordans
TEMECULA (CBS) — A Menifee man was arrested after allegedly fighting with a security guard at The Promenade mall in Temecula over new Nike Air Jordan shoes, the sheriff's department said.
Jervis Hillaire, 23, was arrested Friday on suspicion of making criminal threats, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace after the alleged skirmish with a mall guard, according to sheriff's Sgt. John Mangan.
Hillaire was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta and released today when he posted $3,500 bail, jail records showed.
Deputies arrived at about 5:40 a.m. Friday at the mall in the 40800 block of Winchester Road in response to a disturbance at the Foot Locker store.
They found a crowd of about 30-40 people, some of whom said they had waited since midnight to buy the Air Jordans, Mangan said.
According to Mangan, the disturbance began when people believed they would have opportunities to purchase the shoes, but later discovered a limited number of shoes were to be sold to previously selected ticket holders.
