SAN PEDRO (CBS) — Police Sunday were investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 48-year-old man in San Pedro.

Officers were called to the scene just around 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, they found a man on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gun shot wounds in the 2200 block of Mesa Street

The victim, who was described as a white male, was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known and police said a suspect fled in a SUV. They do not believe the attack was gang-related.
