SUN VALLEY (CBS) — A man was critically injured and a woman was hurt Thursday evening when their vehicle was pinned under a semi truck in the 8800 block of San Fernando Road, near the Golden State (5) Freeway, in Sun Valley.

Firefighters cut off a car door to pull out a man in his 60s who was trapped in the vehicle while a female passenger, also in her 60s, was able to escape with minor injuries, said Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Spence said.

Spence did not have details about how the truck and the vehicle collided.
