LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The young woman who died after falling from the Queen Mary Tuesday night has been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner.

Authorities say Kelly Ryann Dorrell, 26, of Long Beach plummeted 75 feet into the water from a third-story railing around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Long Beach police said that Dorrell has been drinking when she allegedly got into an argument with her unidentified boyfriend, climbed onto a railing and fell.

Dorrell’s boyfriend dove 15 feet into the water to save her. He was hospitalized with hypothermia and minor injuries.

A Long Beach police officer and a Queen Mary staff member also jumped in the water to try and save Dorrell. They were able to pull her out of a narrow channel between the side of the ship and the pier.

Dorrell was taken to a Long Beach hospital, where she later died.

An autopsy will likely be done Thursday to determine the exact cause of death.

Long Beach police are calling Dorrell’s death an apparent accident, not a suicide.

According to a couple of employees at the Queen Mary who were told by their bosses NOT to comment on anything, stated they had witnessed the girl & her boyfriend arguing & she stated that “I don’t want to live anymore”, so I’m calling it a suicide & another statistic in the abusive relationship/domestic violence department. Referring to her as stupid, is stupid.

Emily, if correct I agree with the suicide, but I don’t see this as abusive, people argue, it doesn’t say he hit her, or was nasty to her, doesn’t say anything except an argument, sorry my dear, but arguments are not necessarily mean/abusive, can just be about whether or not to go home now or in an hour, that’s not abusive.

As for suicide or accident, this was not an accident she STEPED UP onto that rail that alone makes it SUICIDE which to agree with AMY make this woman CLEARLY stupid. They reported earlier that he ran down two decks before diving in. That’s why she died and he only had minor injuries. He knew he couldn’t dive right after her at that height.

None of these college students are taught how to make the transition into adulthood, they are lame brains. Most, drink to get drunk and act like idiots… and too macho. So Sad. PsycoPaths are all over this City/County…too many stupid people on the streets, bring back the Lion Dens, all in favor say I, The I’s have it. I’m sorry to the family, not only for their loss, but for the people who take it upon themselves to decide whether or not this girl was “stupid”. She was intoxicated and made mistakes. Not that anyone commenting has ever made a mistake, I’m sure. Some are luckier than others to get out of their situation alive. I’ll pray for her that she ends up in the arms of God. I’ll also pray that the family finds peace.
