LONG BEACH (CBS) — Authorities on Tuesday are hoping new video footage will help lead to the arrest of an arsonist suspected in multiple fires in Long Beach.
KNX 1070′s Mike Landa reports the feds are now involved after a manhunt that has gone on since May.
Fire officials suspect one individual has set as many as two dozen fires in central Long Beach, targeting
two commercial buildings, two vehicles, alley-ways, trash cans and mailboxes.
A surveillance video from a marijuana dispensary has been released for the second time in six months in the hopes that the public will speak out.
The video shows the arsonist setting flammable liquids on fire, pouring the liquid through the store window, and then himself catching on fire before he runs off.
“Even after airing this video in May of the Green Room marijuana collective fire, we’re coming back to the public to ask them to call us with the information on the Long Beach Fire Department hotline so that we can get some information and keep this community safe,” said Fire Capt. Pat Wills.
The ATF is offering separate $5,000 rewards for information on fires at commercial buildings and vehicles.
