Injuries Reported After Deputy Crashes Patrol Car Into Vehicle In West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Paramedics rushed a man and a woman to an area hospital after a two-vehicle crash Saturday involving a sheriff's department patrol car in West Hollywood.

The sheriff's sergeant was the lone occupant inside his vehicle. He suffered some minor abrasions.

The condition of the man and woman were not immediately known, said Seargeant P. Thompson of the sheriff's County Services Bureau.

Thompson said both vehicles had to be towed away. She had no description of the civilian vehicle.

She said the crash occurred about 1:45 a.m. in the area of La Brea and Hawthorne avenues.

Thompson said the deputy was en route to a back up call to assist another deputy, but she refused to disclose any details about the back up call.

A video news crew at the scene told City News Service the sheriff's patrol car ran a red light and crashed into the other vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene reported the male driver had to be extricated from his car.
