LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A 60-year-old man who threatened to kill himself in an upscale Westside apartment complex was taken into custody following a hours-long standoff with police on Tuesday.
The man was apparently despondent over his father’s health and threatened to kill himself inside his West Los Angeles apartment, police said.
The barricade began at 7:01 a.m. at 9500 Alcott Street in a section of Los Angeles just south of Beverly Hills, said LAPD Officer Karen Rayner.
No evacuations were ordered when police determined that the man was alone.
Rayner said that the man was taken into custody without further incident about 2 p.m.
