HEMET (CBS) — A 26-year-old San Jacinto man was shot and killed in an unincorporated area of Hemet and deputies were looking for the gunman, a sheriff’s department sergeant said.
Deputies responded to a “shots fired” call about 12:22 a.m. Saturday in the 22600 block of Alessandro Road.
Upon arrival, they found the deceased – identified as John Hernandez – lying in the road with several gunshot wounds, Sgt. Brian Reno said.
Emergency medical personnel tried to save Hernandez, who was pronounced dead at 12:43 a.m., the coroner’s office confirmed.
Reno said investigators from the Hemet station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit are handling the investigation.
Anyone with any information is asked to call (951) 955-2777.
