LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Forget waiting in long lines before dawn on Black Friday. Serious shoppers can now head straight from the dinner table to the mall on Thanksgiving Day.
Toys R Us stores across the Southland will open at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, an hour earlier than last year.
Wal-Mart has also announced its stores will open at 10 p.m.
While shoppers are happy to be able to hit up stores early, some workers are fighting back.
Thousands of Target employees are campaigning against extended holiday hours and have taken their campaign to Change.org.
They hope to get enough interest to force Target to reconsider opening at midnight Friday.
Macy’s, Kohl’s and Best Buy will also open at 12 a.m. Friday.
