When It's OK To Forget Family & Friends This Holiday Season

We've been reporting on the new holiday surveys that show people plan to spend less on gifts for others, and more on themselves this year. Now, another new poll shows who else is in line for some of those funds, not being spent on 'others'....
Pets.
So these are the folks who say "forget your family and friends: we're takin' care of mutt!" If you want to go with that herd, you'll spend $5 more on your dog or cat this year, than you did last year. An AP-Petside.com poll shows the average gift budget for your 4-legged friend will be about $46.
I love the story about the woman who wanted to get a custom-tailored jacket for her dog. She went to the tailor, who asked her the dog's measurements. She didn't know. He asked why she hadn't measured her dog. She answered "because then, it wouldn't be a surprise." --It's probably just as well that this sort of person is spending less on her family and friends.
