Ruptured Water Main Floods Ventura Boulevard, Prompts Road Closures
STUDIO CITY (CBS) — A water main ruptured in Studio City Monday night, prompting crews to shut down a major thoroughfare.
Torrents of water could be seen rushing down the street and over the parking lots of surrounding businesses.
The break occurred in a 12-inch cast iron water main running in front of a line of businesses on the 12500 block of Ventura Boulevard. The incident was reported shortly after 8 p.m.
The Department of Water and Power said they'd be shutting down that area of Ventura Blvd. until Tuesday morning. They would not confirm which lanes would be closed.
DWP workers have cut back the flow of water but have not been able to turn it off.
No structures were reportedly threatened and no injuries were reported.
The break is among four other ruptured water mains that DWP struggled to plug Monday night.
