1 Critically Injured, 6 Rescued From Apartment Fire In Buena Park

BUENA PARK (CBS) — A woman suffered critical burns and firefighters rescued six people from a greater-alarm fire in an apartment complex across from Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.

The blaze was reported at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Villa Grande Apartments, in the 7700 block of Crescent Avenue, according to Orange County Fire Authority Captain Marc Stone.

A woman tried to run out the front door of her apartment before firefighters arrived. She suffered severe burns and was transported to UCI Medical Center in critical condition, Stone said.

Authorities said firefighters used ladders to rescue two women and three girls, ages 3, 7 and 14 from a bedroom window.

Three of them went to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and observation.

Firefighters went into an apartment to rescue a bedridden resident in hospice care, Stone said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
