Woman Sues Oceanside Unified School District Over Sexual Abuse By Coach

OCEANSIDE (AP) — A woman who was sexually abused by a high school coach as a teenager is suing the Oceanside Unified School District.

The North County Times  says the 19-year-old woman sued earlier this year for economic, physical, psychological and emotional injury.

Former coach Corey Hogue pleaded guilty to having unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl during a two-year relationship that began when she was 15. He was sentenced to probation.

The lawsuit claims the school district failed to properly train teachers and coaches about keeping appropriate distance and didn't catch clues that a relationship was going on.

Her attorney, Dave Peck, says she'll probably seek a six-figure damage award.
