Murder Charges Filed Against Man In Yorba Linda Stabbing Deaths Of Mother, Brother

YORBA LINDA (CBS) — Double murder charges were filed Thursday against a 24- year-old man accused in the stabbing deaths of his mother and brother in Yorba Linda.

Eder Giovanni Herrera, who also faces a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a deadly weapon, made his initial court appearance but did not enter a plea. His arraignment was rescheduled for Nov. 18.

Meanwhile, the victims were identified today as Raquel Estrada, 53, and Juan Herrera, 34, according to Sgt. Jim Griffin of the Brea Police Department, which also patrols Yorba Linda.

Autopsies showed they died of multiple stab wounds, Griffin said.

Police were still working to determine the motive and what weapon was used in the attack, he said.

Herrera lived with his mother and brother in the home in the 4200 block of Trix Circle, where the bodies of the victims were found about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Griffin said. They had been renting the house for about a year, Griffin said.

After the attacks, Eder Herrera allegedly fled to a friend's house, where he was arrested Wednesday morning, Griffin said.
