SANTA ANA (KNX 1070) — Police say a 24-year-old Anaheim man is behind bars after allegedly being captured on hidden camera nearly killing his two-month-old son.
KNX 1070’s Mike Landa says Joshua Robey has been charged with attempted murder, torture, child abuse and causing great bodily harm stemming from the incident.
Anaheim police Sergeant Rick Martinez says Robey’s girlfriend set up a hidden camera and caught the alleged abuse on tape.
“We observed on tape the father of the child with a blanket around the child’s neck. He picks up the baby by lifting the ends of the blanket like a noose and swinging the victim around for about a minute,” the sergeant said.
Martinez says Robey can also be seen punching the baby in the chest with a closed fist.
The baby’s mother discovered what happened the next morning when she watched the videotape, according to police.
Robey, who is being held on $1 million bail, is set to be arraigned on Nov. 9, according to the Associated Press. He faces 15 years to life in prison, if convicted.
