28-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Amtrak Train In Northridge

NORTHRIDGE (CBS) — A 28-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Northridge Friday, police said.

The man was walking westbound on the south side of the tracks, south of Parthenia Street and west of Lindley Avenue around 9:45 a.m. when he was hit, said Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police responded to reports of a traffic collision and found the victim unresponsive. The man, suffering from a traumatic injury, was pronounced dead at the scene, Joseph said.

No passengers from the train were injured.

The man's name was withheld pending notification of his family.
