LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The longtime gender barriers on campus at UCLA may be about to shatter.

KNX 1070′s Jon Baird reports students could soon have the option of living with a member of the opposite sex as early as 2012.

Under the proposal, a male student could request to share a dorm room with a female friend or vice versa.

And while no final decision has been made as of yet, Suzanne Seplow of UCLA’s office of Residential Life said it is under consideration.

“Students wouldn’t be placed in this circumstance,” said Seplow. “They would still be placed based on gender, but if there was a request or a returning student requested it, they certainly could have the option.”

Seplow explained that the proposal is in reaction to a trend popping up throughout the nation that initially began as a way to work with people who are transgendered — for instance, someone born biologically as a man, but living as a woman, who might not be comfortable living with a male roommate.

“UCLA is just following suit of this national trend,” said Seplow — one that could lead to your typical male and female students rooming together.

Students at the Westwood campus seemed divided along gender lines as to the benefits of co-ed roommates.

“I think that’s perfectly fine, because once people move out, many people share apartments,” said one male student.

But a fellow female student had her own observation.

“Guys and girls are very different,” she said.

My luck I would get Chas Bono as my roomy.

When I attended UCLA, there was already cohabitation, just informally. It’s not going to change anything. Sex happens.

      So does AIDS.

Oh this is so 70′s. I thought we were over this about 45 years ago. We had coed dorm rooms back then — what? Did something happen in the past decades to go back to the 30′s? Do we also now have the vicious “house mom” protecting her charges “virginity” too?

This is all to accommodate the mutilated gender confused future suicide victims.

      Stuff it.

I can see the pregnancy rate going up. After a night of drinking co-eds WILL DO the deed!!!!!

    • Lynn Cohen

With or without co-ed dorm rooms, or a night of drinking, students “will do” the deed. They already are, this is nothing new, I hardly think the pregnancy rate will go up.

That is what society has become. We need to always accomodate the gays and minorities. How sad and disgusting. That little fruit loop pop tart Larry King from Oxnard got what he had coming to him. He kept fuking with his classmate and got his head blown off. And society makes such a big deal out of bullying. If kids weren’t raised as such vaginas. If someone steps to you and messes with you, give them one HARD punch right in the nose or jaw and break it. Guaranteed the bullying will stop.

Better yet, just put them in a big open bay barracks and they can scramble for bunks.

GIVE the PERVERTS GUNS and KNIVES!!!!!

      NASTY RATS!!!!!

    >> for instance, someone born biologically as a man, but living as a woman, who might not be comfortable living with a male roommate.

Then why not demand that the transgendered bigot attend counseling sessions? That is what would be done for a Christian that was not comfortable living with him/her.

I’m worried about the person who was born a man but is more comfortable as an ewe. What facilities are available for ewes at UCLA. Will they supply hay and mangers and such for them in the cafeterias?

We need to get beyond trans gendered and include our trans-specied as well.

      • seanster5977

Or the male student that thinks he is a cat, and doesn’t want to be roomates with a dog.

Useless colleges, yet another violation of our rights. Add it to the list of gov’t violations of our rights:
They violate the 1st Amendment by placing protesters in cages, banning books like “America Deceived II” and censoring the internet.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns.
They violate the 4th and 5th Amendment by molesting airline passengers.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting undeclared wars for foreign countries.
Impeach Obama, vote for Ron Paul.

    Tyranny of the minority.

This silliness needs to stop. No one, and I mean NO ONE is “transgender.” No matter how you choose to dress, or whatever parts you have sawed off/added on to you doesn’t matter. YOUR ACTUAL SEX DOES NOT CHANGE. This whole gender equals sex thing is foolish, even from a grammatical aspect.

Back in my day at college if someone had gotten a roommate who dressed like a girl his a** would get straightened out on Day 1. Being “transgender” is your choice, your perversion.

Of course I don’t expect this post to last, with all the mamby-pamby leftists living in LA.

…And the rest of the country didn’t think California could get any weirder…

Yea, put some so-called woman to male in my dorm and I will let it know that it’s still a woman. If the vagina was sewn up, I’ll reopen that sucker and make use of that area the way it was meant to be used!

“Transgender”? Unless they can somehow manage to change their DNA, it’s just mutilation and you get that Bono thing as a result. But the poopushers keep pretending, nonetheless.

  • MoochelleBrobammy

In other news, pregnancy rates are expected to increase at UCLA.

  • John Sheridan

You will notice ” that initially began as a way to work with people who are transgendered — for instance, someone born biologically as a man, but living as a woman, who might not be comfortable living with a male roommate” gives no consideration for the normal male having issues with being forced to live with one of “indeterminate sex”. Straight, White, European origin people have NO rights now and can NOT be discriminated against according to Atty Gen Eric the Red.

  • Massimo Deportado

Yes. Let’s make sure the FREAK SHOW continues forever.

“I’m soooo confused about which sex I am”. Really?

REALLY? Is that my effing problem? Isn’t everyone sick and tired of this silly nonsense?

Go back to the closet. At least then children would be safer.

    AND QUIT SCARING THE HORSES!

  • Kim

    This is awesome news!

  • SirGareth

There are many other discriminatory features of the UCLA campus.

For, instance some men are attracted to sheep and feel more comfortable with ewes than they are with either males of females of the human race.

Today many human racists treat our trans-specied with contempt just because of some ridiculous biblical prohibition against animal love. Is time to dispense with this superstitious nonsense.

UCLA should include facilities for the trans-specied as well; Is it asking too much for areas of the homecoming dance floor not to be covered with hay so as to make our trans-specied comfortable with their homecoming dates.
