Anti-Semitic Incidents In Calif. Jump 8 Percent; Highest In US

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The state of California is leading a national surge in anti-Semitic attacks and other incidents.

KNX 1070′s Pete Demetriou reports the increase in reported the number of assaults, vandalism and other threats soared by about 8 percent — the first such rise since 2004.

Over 1,200 incidents were reported in 2010, with 297 in California and nearly half of those in Los Angeles, Kern, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties.

Among the most disturbing aspects of the jump is that more are occurring in areas with predominantly younger populations and with teens taking part in a significant part of the actions.

With 1 of every 5 hate crime incidents in L.A. County being labeled as anti-Semitic, officials are taking a closer look at the data — especially since the threats are happening in diverse neighborhoods and even near schools.

How strange that you never find your comments offensive. It’s always just about “YOU”. I think many people in the world are existing without Jews just fine.

First you only named two (that’s a couple, not a few).

Second, there have been, are, and will be many worthy contributions made to society by Blacks and Mexicans. I worked with a guy who staunchly believed Blacks could not read. I got a great laugh proving him WRONG, especially since he didn’t read well.

So sad some people are comfortable with and in their ignorance.

Jews have invented discovered many life long inventions in medicine , i.e. Einstein, Jonas Salk to name a few, blacks/mexicas/muslims =NOTHING!

NOW THAT’S NOT AN OFFENSIVE STATEMENT! LOL Now that statement is not going to make the news. But if you said Jews = invented nothing, it would start a war and we would all have to participate.

I believe we are seeing the results of several so-called community leaders, such as those anti-semites Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and Jesse Jackson, being able to preach their hatred and not be criticized for it plus a new generation growing up believing it is the Jews that are the roadblock to peace in the Middle East and, voila, we have new young haters out there. PBS once had a special called “The Longest Hatred” that summarized how no other hatred of any other people has gone on for as long as Anti-Semitism. This is just history continuing the course it has been on forever.
