Hazmat Investigating Envelope With White Powder Found In CBS Television City Mail Room

UPDATE (7 p.m.): Officials have determined the powder was harmless. As in the incident last November, this package was also addressed to the show "Dancing With the Stars."

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An envelope containing white powder was found at CBS Television City Wednesday, marking  the third such occurrence since last November.

Police and firefighters were sent to the studio complex in the 7800 block of Beverly Boulevard just after 2 p.m., Los Angeles police Officer Diana Figueroa said.

The envelope was found in the mail room and was addressed to a show in production on the lot. It was unclear how many people might have been exposed or whether the powder posed any danger.

On Nov. 19, white powder was found at the studio complex in an office associated with "Dancing With the Stars."

On Aug. 24, another white powder scare associated with Craig Ferguson's "Late Late Show" occurred at Television City.

In both cases, the substance was found to be harmless.
