(KFWB 980) — We’re sitting in a portion of South Redondo Beach called the Hollywood Riviera and wanted to find out a little about the history of the area and the interesting name.

We found Mike Morales, who owns Harmony Works, an eclectic art shop right across the street from us. Mike is the President of the Riviera Business improvement District and a bit of a historian.

He told us the name “Hollywood Riviera” came shortly after 1927 when Clifford Reid purchased a little more than 600 acres of land here.
