WATCH THE ROAD PSA STAR SEARCH SWEEPSTAKES
Contest Rules
NO PURCHASE OR PAYING OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. THE CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
1. How to Enter the Contest:
(a) The CBS 2 and KCAL 9 "WATCH THE ROAD PSA STAR SEARCH" SWEEPSTAKES will begin on Monday, August 15, 2011 and end on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 11:59PM PDT. Contest is sponsored by Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT).
(b) To participate in the sweepstakes, viewers enter online at www.cbsla.com and submit their name, address, age, email address, daytime phone number, and submit one essay in 100 words or less answering both questions:
1) Why is biking and/or walking a better transportation alternative than driving? and
2) What can drivers do to keep the roads safe?
(c) KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV ("Sponsor") is not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, misaddressed, postage due, incomplete or illegible entries. Sponsor is not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or network transmissions, inability to access any Web site or on-line service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. If the judges determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual electronic tampering with the Contest or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the judges reserve the right to void the entries at issue and/or terminate the Contest and conduct a random drawing to award the prize among all eligible entries received as of the termination date. If the Contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at www.cbsla.com. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the Contest or website or violates the Official Rules of the Contest. By use of this website and by entering the Contest, you agree to the Sponsor's Web Site Terms of Use Agreement and to the use of your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy located at: www.cbsla.com.
(d) Only one (1) internet entry per e-mail address will be considered an entry. An entry submitted is deemed to be made by the holder of the e-mail account.
(e) Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.
2. Eligibility Restrictions:
(a) The contest is open to Southern California residents who are students age 13 to 21 years of age. Employees of KCBS-TV, KCAL9-TV, CBS Corp., LADOT, other television and radio stations in the Los Angeles market, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members or persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate or win.
(b) Viewers are eligible to win a KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV Sweepstakes only once every sixty days. Only one winner per household is permitted in any Sweepstakes. Viewers are eligible to win a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six months.
(c) All entries become the sole property of KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV and will not be returned. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work.
(d) Contestants are required to provide truthful information and Sponsor will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent. Sponsor will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements, and Sponsor will also delete any entry received from persons under the age of 13.
3. Prizes:
(a) Grand Prize: Four (4) Grand Prize winners will selected to "star" in a Watch the Road PSA spot to air on KCBS-TV and KCAL9-TV. Winners will receive compensation under the AFTRA Local TV Code in the amount of $180.00 plus 11% H&R contributions. The PSA shoot will take place on one day during September 2011 and will be a 2-3 hour shoot. Winners must be available to shoot on KCBS-TV selected date. Any winner unable to participate on selected date will forfeit their prize and an alternate winner may be selected. Parent or legal guardian 18 years of age or older must be present at the taping. Some restrictions may apply. Approximate value of each Grand Prize package: $200.00
(b) All other costs and expenses in connection with prize winner's receipt and use of the prize are the winner's sole responsibility. The prize winners are responsible for all other expenses and not specifically set forth herein, including gratuities, meals, transportation, parking, expenses and other incidentals.
(c) All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV, 4200 Radford Ave, Studio City, CA 91604. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within 48 hours of winning will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, the winner assumes the risk of its arrival. KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
(d) Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of comparable value.
4. Selection of Winners:
(a) Decisions of Sponsor with respect to the contest are final.
(b) Four (4) Grand Prize Winners will be selected by a panel of KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV judges on or about Wednesday, August 31, 2011, from all eligible essay entries received.
Essay entries will be judged based on the following criteria with equal weight: uniqueness of submission, dedication to biking or walking as an alternative means of transportation to driving, and best ideas to keep the roads safe.
(c) A representative of KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV will contact the winners by telephone or email. If KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV is unable to contact a winner based on the information provided on the entry form, an alternate winner will be selected from all other eligible entries.
5. Conditions:
(a) Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner and winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from Sponsor.
(b) By participating in the contest, the winners agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize. If a prizewinner is a minor, prize may be awarded to the minor's parent or legal guardian (who must be 18 years of age or older), and that parent or legal guardian must accompany the minor to the Watch the Road PSA shoot (date TBD). By accepting the prize, winner grants to Sponsor the right to use the winner's name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). All expenses on receipt and use of prize, and all federal, state and local taxes, are the sole responsibility of winner. Winner and travel companion, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release KCBS-TV, KCAL9-TV, CBS Corp., LADOT, their respective parents and subsidiaries, officers, directors, shareholders and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity. Void where prohibited by law.
6. Sponsor reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, which will become effective upon announcement. In the event of a misunderstanding, dispute, or human error, KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV management will make the final determination of the prizewinner. By entering this contest, contestants agree to be bound by these rules and any KCBS-TV/KCAL9-TV management decision concerning the contest.
7. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
8. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant's disqualification.
