Oxnard Woman Arrested In Fatal Hit And Run Of Canoga Park Teen

CANOGA PARK (CBS) — Los Angeles police announced Tuesday the arrest of a fatal hit and run suspect that killed a teenaged bicyclist.

Dominique Rush, 23, was arrested the LAPD early Tuesday morning in Oxnard for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter and Felony Hit and Run, according to officials.

Police alleged Rush was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla when she fatally hit German Alex Romero who was riding his bike on De Soto Avenue in Canoga Park on April 20, 2011. Romero, 17, was a senior at Chatsworth High School at the time of his death.

Rush’s father, Steven Rush, 44, was also arrested Tuesday in Porter Ranch, police said. Rush is accused of helping his daughter conceal the crime after the fact. His bail has been set at $20,000.

Dominique Rush is being held on a $100,000 bail.

a bicyclist has same rules as drivers Really ???? In what world… so they cut u off.. never stop at stop signs. and dont pay DMV Fees …. Where in the DMV laws does it state 2 cars share the same lane as well…

Actually, they do have the same rights, check the driver’s handbook. “Bicycle riders and automobile drivers follow the same rules and have the same rights.” Maybe next time you should educate yourself before making a rude and ignorant comment.
        RIP

So sad that two families will be destroyed, one forever, another for a long, long time. I don’t know about the father that covered it up. There have been several cases where parents have had to weigh loving their child versus covering up a murder. I hope to God I never have to be in that situation.

This just goes to show that you can’t get away with everything, they will find you. Now if she had just stopped that night and not took off it would have been an accident. I don’t understand what goes through people’s mind thinking they can run over a human being and just drive away. She just threw her whole life away and at 23.

They are actually Hispanic not that I am defending either one of them. Neither one of her parents have any remorse for what they or their daughter has done. They have said “she has a really good lawyer so she won’t do hardly any time” and has repeatedly said ” It is what it is”. Every one of the Rush family members are irresponsible and have no regard for anyone other than themselves. Did they think about the poor boy they killed on they’re recent family vacation??DISGUSTING!!!

what dominigue rush and steve rush did was the most horrible thing someone can do. they have acted like they have done NOTHING wrong since april 20. the only thing they are worried about is possibly moving from their home! they rush family is selfish! that family has to worry about never seeing that boy graduate or just plain never having to see that boy again. but they are worrying about moving. what a shame. as someone that is very close to dominique, I AM COMPLETELY DISGUSTED IN HER AND HER FATHER’S ACTIONS!!!!! never again will i be able to look at her like she is someone i once cared about. rip alex!!!

  6. truth hurts says:

they got caught because they didn’t run to mexico like 99% hispanic do.
